Residency Information
The Creative Spark Residency Programme will provide opportunities for visual artists and art professionals to research and develop their practices.
It will support both emerging and established visual artists working in any medium.
Application will be by open call or invitation and will be open to Irish and international applicants.
The residency programme will award up to 10 residencies to visual artists each year.
The residency programme will award up to 4 residencies to Printmakers each year.
Residencies will be of 2 to 3 months in duration in 2024
It is envisaged that:
• Up to three residencies will be considered for artists originally from or living in Louth.
• Up to four residencies will be considered for artists from elsewhere within Ireland.
• Up to three will be considered for artists from outside Ireland.
Residencies fall into two types and these may also overlap
1. Residencies to support artists wishing to develop or extend the boundaries of their own professional and technical skills and/or practice. It is envisaged that two residencies would fall within this category.
2. Residencies to support artists to lead engagement with places / people / industry / groups / communities or landscapes in Louth (to be suggested or identified by the artist in their proposal). It is envisaged that three residencies would fall within this category.
Note: Artists are eligible to submit proposals for each type of residency or combination of both types. Within both categories, the artist is expected to develop new work.
Selection Criteria:
• Quality of previous work and the capacity of the artist to deliver the proposed residency.
• Quality and relevance of project proposal to this residency scheme.
• Innovative approaches to the residency.
• The capacity of the proposed project to support the artist towards the creation of new work and/or in the development of their practice.
• Perceived benefit to local community or residents of Co. Louth generally.
