Our guest speaker, Dr
Niamh Shaw, an inspirational Dundalk native, an engineer, scientist, writer and
performer, will talk to the girls about following their dreams, and how her big
dream is to travel into Space!
The girls will learn the
basics of computer coding using Scratch, a fun visual programming language for
children. The theme for our workshops will be "Girls In Space",
they will learn how to design and code a space-themed animation, how to add
music, movement, change scenes, and they can even star in the animation
themselves!
This workshop is for
girls aged 11-13 years, limited places available to ensure lots of one-to-one
mentoring.
We will show the girls
that technology is fun and creative, and not just for boys! We will tap
into their curiosity and encourage them to explore technology and show them
that they can become innovators and inventors of technology in the future.
