Free Coding Workshop For Girls (10-16 years) 19 October 2019

Tutor: Joan McCann
Cost: FREE (booking required) Girls will need to bring their own laptop.
Venue: Creative Spark, Dundalk

Creative Spark will host a free coding event for Secondary School Girls, aged between 10 and 16 years. This event will introduce girls to computer science, coding and electronics in a fun and creative environment, inspiring them to become digital creators in the future.

This fun interactive workshop will cover the basics of computer coding with Microsoft MakeCode, and an introduction to electronics using the BBC Micro:bit. The girls will learn how to code the Micro:bit to become “Wearable Technology” such as a wristband and a badge, and how to turn it into a digital dice or a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors.

Let’s inspire girls to embrace technology, enhance their skills in the valuable and rewarding area of computer science, and encourage them to become innovators and inventors of technology in the future..

Attention please: We have received a Meet and Code grant to run this wonderful event for young girls from our community, who will get new digital skills during our Girls Can Code! Event.

Thank you SAP, Haus des Stiftens gGmbH and TechSoup Europe for this wonderful opportunity. We look forward to working with The Code Lab to deliver this exciting event.
