Louth-Based Artist Claire McAteer Joins Creative Spark as Artist-in-Residence
Louth-based artist and textile specialist Claire McAteer has joined Creative Spark as its newest Artist-in-Residence. Focused on drawing, print, embroidery, collage, and felt, Claire is thrilled to have a dedicated space at Creative Spark to expand her creative practice, explore the Print Studio and Fab Lab, and connect with a supportive community of like-minded artists.
With over 20 years of experience as a lecturer at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and in community arts, Claire is committed to making art accessible to all. She looks forward to sharing her insights on creativity and wellbeing through workshops, both online and in person.
Inspired by nature, Irish music, and themes of connection, Claire plans to use this residency to explore belonging and self-discovery through hands-on creative work. Following a period of managing a chronic health condition and hidden disability, she finds renewal in artistic expression. Claire hopes to make creativity a more regular ritual and share this approach with the community through workshops, offered both online and in person.
