Suzanne Carroll is a visual artist working primarily in paint. She graduated with a first class honours degree in Fine Art with Critical Culture from NCAD in 2021. Since graduating she has been awarded An Táin Arts Centre’s Emerging Artist in Residence, was long listed for the RDS Visual Art Award and has had work acquired by the OPW and the Louth County Council for their Municipal Art Collection.

During her time as Printmaker in Residence in Creative Spark Print Studios she is looking forward to expanding her practice through print. “By exploring the possibilities of various printing processes I plan to take my photographic images on an experimental journey and look forward to seeing how these images take shape resulting in what I hope will be an exciting new body of work.”

During the pandemic Suzanne used photography to record ephemeral and permanent marks we humans have imposed on the peaty landscape in the hills around her home in North Louth. Tire tracks and hiking boot prints follow a maze of pathways used by local farmers to check their sheep. Dry stonewalls topped with wire fencing interrupted by the occasional rusty gate and the many stone Cairns dotted along the way.
